As someone who has always been passionate about social justice issues, I have found myself drawn to the vibrant activist scene in Seattle. From the Black Lives Matter protests to the Women’s March, I have been inspired by the passion and dedication of my fellow activists. January – March

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Seattle hosts a variety of events to raise awareness about sexual assault and support survivors. From the annual Take Back the Night march to workshops on consent and healthy relationships, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and show your support for survivors.
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and Seattle hosts a variety of events to celebrate and honor the contributions of Asian Pacific Americans to history and culture. From food festivals to cultural performances to workshops on Asian American identity and history, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and engage with the Asian Pacific American community.
June is Pride Month, and Seattle hosts one of the largest Pride festivals in the country. From the Pride parade to the Trans Pride march to the PrideFest celebration, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community.
July – September
July is Disability Pride Month, and Seattle hosts a variety of events to celebrate and honor the contributions of people with disabilities to history and culture. From the Disability Pride Parade to workshops on disability rights and advocacy, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and show your support for the disability community.
August is Black August, a month of commemoration and reflection on the history and ongoing struggle for Black liberation. Seattle hosts a variety of events to honor and remember the Black freedom fighters who have come before us and to continue the fight for racial justice today.
September is Latinx Heritage Month, and Seattle hosts a variety of events to celebrate and honor the contributions of Latinx people to history and culture. From food festivals to cultural performances to workshops on Latinx identity and history, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and engage with the Latinx community.
October – December
October is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a day to honor and celebrate Native American history and culture. Seattle hosts a variety of events to raise awareness about Native American issues and support Native American communities.
November is Native American Heritage Month, and Seattle hosts a variety of events to celebrate and honor the contributions of Native Americans to history and culture. From powwows to storytelling to workshops on Native American history and identity, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and engage with Native American communities.
December is Human Rights Day, and Seattle hosts a variety of events to raise awareness about human rights issues and support the fight for justice and equality around the world.
